IMMUNE POWER DIET: ARE "E" MEN "HE-MEN"?

Vitamin E helps keep men sexually healthy, active and strong, and it is particularly necessary for healthy testicles and hormone production. Studies also show it seems to increase fertility in both men and women. Vitamin E may also cause short-term rises in our sex drive. While few clear studies have been done on this, many of my male patients have told me that during the first two or three weeks they started taking vitamin E, their sex drive noticeably increased.

More than any other single vitamin, E has been associated with sexual health and activity. In women it has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms like headaches and hot flashes, and to have a role in regulating menstrual flow. For men, it also helps prevent and cure inflammation of the prostate, one of the primary sex glands.

Vitamin E also has a direct effect on the immune system. Physicians at Cornell University have shown that vitamin E stimulates antibody production and makes the immune cells more able to react with invading germs.

Recent findings from a prominent team of Japanese immunologists have discovered that vitamin E causes our T cells to react faster and more strongly.

Microbiologists in Colorado have shown that vitamin E makes animals less prone to bacterial infection, and that it significantly increased resistance to disease. In one study, vitamin E produced a 40 percent stronger response to tetanus germs, and stimulated antibody production in mice.
